Although he is seen today as one of the founders of monument protection in Hungary, due to a rich activity in the field of theory and practice of heritage conservation in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, including interventions on several monuments from Transylvania, part of the Austro-Hungarian monarchy at that time, the name of István Möller is seldom mentioned in the architecture or restoration schools from Romania.
