An element of novelty when Romania joined the European Union referred to the funding of projects regarding the rehabilitation of cultural built heritage. The project proposals submitted for approval obtain financing based on a very detailed and complex documentation, with generous allocations of the funds granted to Romania by the European Union. The Regional Operation Programme (ROP) is one of the available European funding programmes. The objective of ROP priority axis 5 for Romania is sustainable development and promotion of tourism. Within this priority axis, the key area of intervention 5.1. aims to conservation and sustainable valorisation of the cultural heritage, as well as to creation/modernisation of related
infrastructure. This Report contains information on the ROP 5.1. funding agreements signed between 2008 and 2010, detailing the agreements signed for Transylvania.
