The Huet Square has always been the spiritual centre of Sibiu. From a topographical point of view, it mingles with the area of the first fortified precinct, in the middle of which the Parish Church has been built during the 12th century, followed, after almost two centuries, by the present Church, dedicated to the Holy Virgin. During the last few years, this nucleus of the historical city has been the subject for a welcomed rehabilitation, which also included a broad historical and archaeological research. Many new information and material proofs of the city's age, of the Transylvanian Saxon civilization were revealed on this occasion. They now represent the raw material for writing a different history.
