The Roman Catholic Church in Cioboteni/Şumuleu Ciuc achieved its present shape in 1817. The building’s timber was attacked by dry rot fungi, which destroyed its cellulose. As a result, cracks were formed perpendicular to the grain direction and the timber lost its stiffness.
