Despite the current concern for its protection, built heritage is still undergoing significant losses, justified both by general reasons, and by regional or local distinctive features. Among the forms of aggression upon built heritage in Timişoara, some are more obvious, such as the annihilation of buildings (i.e. demolitions and alterations). In other situations, the destruction occurs in subtler ways, through apparent concessions made for the preservation of heritage, like the agreement to preserve the original elevations or even through the conservation style, by replacing the material, even if reconstruction is of identical form. Although the effect of the various forms of aggression is similar, since built heritage is ultimately affected, their diversity
requires a rather nuanced analysis, aiming at an effective prevention.
