Wooden furnishings and ceilings are probably the most vulnerable segment of the Transylvanian built heritage. Due to their organic raw material they perish easily, moreover, at least the same amount of destruction can be attributed to (voluntary or accidental) human activity. The present article enumerates those painted joineries (mostly painted coffered ceilings and gallery parapets), which for different reasons have disappeared, but are documented by descriptions, drawings and photographs, respectively examines the fate of the items found in Hungarian or Transylvanian collections.
