Nowadays, thanks to the reform in the EU higher education system, the architects’ specialisation in built heritage conservation has a rather uncertain future. Since nowhere in the world is the signature right granted for academic studies with a less than five years duration, architecture studies are obligatorily made of cycles 1 and 2, namely BA (Bachelor) and MA levels. An essential issue is the equivalency of all the design activities, which, has its origin both in the specificity of the conservation specialization and in the inherent difficulties of the pluri-disciplinary study prior to a full training as an architect.
