The article is a short presentation of our thesis for the master’s degree written within the confines of Postgraduate Studies on Historic Building Conservation. The study wishes to exemplify working methods on historic urban tissues located in the corpus of big towns in Romania. For doing this we apply the methods on a “pilot
zone” in the town Pitesti: the area “Târgul din Vale”. The following places belong to the area: the Mavrodolu church, the Southern Island, the University, the Bratianu Street and the railway embankment.
