The aim of this study is to give a short, schematic foretaste of the Transylvanian painted coffered ceilings and their most important damage forms. Related to this, it tries to offer guidance for the maintenance and professional preservation of the wooden ceilings. Finally, it draws attention to the difficulties and unanswered questions regarding the preservation and conservation of the painted coffered ceilings.
