Rezumat:
The Roman Catholic Church in Cioboteni/Şumuleu Ciuc achieved its present shape in 1817. The building’s timber was attacked by dry rot fungi, which destroyed its cellulose. As a result, cracks were formed perpendicular to the grain direction and the timber lost its stiffness. The article presents step by step the eradication of the dry rot fungi and reports on the archaeological research carried out in the church, which led to the uncovering of one of the region’s oldest churches.
